HUDSON – Steven Jacques, 54, of Hudson, was recently taken into custody for a myriad of privacy violations.
According to the Hudson Police Department, officers responded to a home after residents found a camera had been installed in their bedroom.
Officers were able to use information from the camera to identify Jacques as the suspect and placed him under arrest. Police also have reason to believe that he has been involved in voyeuristic activity for a considerable period of time.
In this particular case, Jacques allegedly destroyed evidence related to the investigation.
Jacques has been charged with wiretapping, burglary, falsifying physical evidence, criminal trespass and violation of privacy.
“Mr. Jacques’ illegal actions represent a severe breach of trust and privacy and we are dedicated to ensuring the safety of our community,” said Lt. Patrick Broderick.
Under state law, if convicted, Jacques could face up to 24 years in prison, up to seven years probation and up to $22,000 in fines.
He is being held on preventative detention and was scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 18.
