Nashua Center for the Arts to celebrate second anniversary on April 1

NASHUA – Spectacle Live and Nashua Community Arts are collaborating to celebrate the second anniversary of the Nashua Center for the Arts with a show featuring award-winning performances by members of Nashua’s vibrant arts community.

The mission of the Nashua Community Arts nonprofit is to support the Nashua Center for the Arts, ensuring it serves as a vibrant cultural facility that enriches the community’s quality of life. It aims to be a valuable resource and gathering place for local residents, connecting the arts and cultural activities to the broader community, while making these experiences accessible to everyone.

“Since April 1, 2023, we have been managing and booking the state-of-the-art Nashua Center for the Arts, bringing high-quality live entertainment and events to the greater Nashua area,” said Peter Lally, president of Spectacle Live. “We are eager to showcase the high-quality entertainment and performing arts education based right here in Nashua to celebrate the landmark.”

The show serves as the first event in Nashua Community Arts’ newly-launched Community Enrichment Program. Celebrating Nashua Arts features performances by local theatres, musicians, and dance groups from the New Hampshire area. The show will also be emceed by WZID Manchester’s morning team, Neal and Marga

The impressive lineup includes Ruby Shabazz, winner of the 2024 New England Music Award for Foul/R&B Artist, and the 2024 New England Songwriters Competition in Hip Hop and R&B. The Peacock Players, who have been showcasing exceptional youth theater and education in Southern New Hampshire for 40 years, will perform a song and dance from their upcoming production of Chicago. The Actorsingers, celebrating 70 years of award-winning community theater, will present a song and dance from their upcoming production of Legally Blonde. Symphony New Hampshire, the state’s only professional orchestra and Nashua’s longtime resident for over 100 years, will be represented by their Brass Ensemble. Ukestra, led by Mike Loce, features local community members who are passionate about their ukuleles and love to perform. Y-Dance In Motion, local community members who are passionate about their ukuleles will also perform. Additionally, the String Ensemble from Nashua’s renowned Community Music School will experience the thrill of performing on the “big stage” for the first time.

“The objective of the Community Enrichment Program is to work with Spectacle Live to provide a series of free or low-cost programming aimed at linking the arts and cultural activities to the community at large and making the center accessible to all,” said Richard Lannan, president of Nashua Community Arts. “This show will showcase Nashua’s vibrant arts community and give audience members a taste of what is available right here in Nashua, all for an affordable ticket price.”

In addition, the Sandy Cleary Community Art Gallery will open its Student Art Exhibition that evening in the concourse between the Main Street and West Pearl Street Lobbies, featuring artwork from the Nashua School District, grades K-12. Nashua Community Arts and the Nashua Arts Commission collaborate to provide planning, operation, and management of the gallery.
