HOLLIS — Timothy Harrigan, 30, of Leominster, Mass. was taken into custody on Nov. 3 for allegedly driving under influence.

According to the Hollis Police Department, officers responded to Broad Street near Pine Hill Road at 6:15 p.m.

Prior to arrival, dispatchers informed officers that Harrigan had struck and killed a bear.

According to police, officers observed signs of impairment while speaking with Harrigan. They later determined that he had a blood alcohol level of 0.17, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.

Harrigan is charged with aggravated driving under the influence and an open container violation.

Under state law, if convicted, Harrigan could face up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $2,000.

He was released on personal recognizance and will be arraigned in Nashua District Court.

Harrigan arranged for Sarah Chicoine, 29, of Nashua, to pick him up at the Police Department. However, officers found that she was driving with a suspended license and registration.

Chicoine was subsequently charged with driving after revocation or suspension and suspension of vehicle registration. She was also issued a summons to appear in Nashua District Court.
