NASHUA – Shane Totman, 30, of Nashua, has been identified as the suspect in a string of recent assaults at Mine Falls Park.

According to the Nashua Police Department, from Oct. 11-16, officers received five reports of women being harassed and assaulted at the park.

One victim, whose identity has not been released, said Totman came up behind her, grabbed the hood of her sweatshirt and pulled her to the ground. He then reportedly fled the area on a mountain bike.

In the days that followed, the park was heavily patrolled by plain-clothed officers. On Oct. 18, police reportedly found Totman riding an electric scooter around the park. When stopped by officers, Totman claimed he was not involved with the assaults.

Using video surveillance, police watched Totman ride his bike back to a residence on Blossom Street immediately following the Oct. 16 assault. Police were also able to connect his name with the Blossom Street address.

Totman was placed under arrest without incident at his home on Oct. 20 and was charged with simple assault.

Totman was held on preventative detention and was scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on Oct. 21.

Under state law, if convicted, Totman could face up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $2,000.
