PELHAM – Joshua Kirby-MacNeil, 20, of Pelham, was taken into custody on Sept. 3, accused of causing a traffic crash on Bridge Street in Pelham.

According to Pelham Police, officers and firefighters responded to 59 Bridge St. at 11:47 a.m. where they found a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro and a 2013 Toyota Prius, both severely damaged.

There were a total of six occupants between the two vehicles, all of whom reported being injured.

The preliminary investigation suggested that Kirby-MacNeil, who was driving the Camaro, was traveling north on Bridge Street at an “extremely high rate of speed and was driving recklessly.”

He then collided with the Prius, which was driven by Peter Kalogaropoulos, 59, of Lowell, Mass. The impact of the crash reportedly sent the Prius off the road and into the woods. According to police, Kirby-MacNeil was out on bail for a prior charge of driving under the influence.

Kirby-MacNeil and Kalogaropoulos were both taken to local hospitals with serious injuries. Their passengers, whose identities have not been released, were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

Kirby-MacNeil was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving under the influence, reckless conduct, driving after suspension, criminal mischief and driving with an open container of alcohol.

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Salem District Court on Sept. 16.

Under state law, if convicted, Kirby-MacNeil could face up to 14 years in prison, up to 10 years probation and up to $8,000 in fines.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Officer Dakota Clark at dclark@pelhampolice.com or at 603-635-2411.
