Fire truck pull to support Less Leg More Heart slated for Sept. 15

By Staff | Aug 30, 2024

MERRIMACK – On Sept. 15, the Anheuser-Busch facility at 221 Daniel Webster Hwy. will be the site of a high-energy, community-driven event to support a worthy cause.

Less Leg More Heart, a nonprofit organization dedicated to aiding individuals with limb loss and limb difference, will host its annual Fire Truck Pull event at 10 a.m.

The event will feature teams of up to 12 participants from across the region coming together to test their strength and teamwork by pulling a 30-ton fire truck a distance of 50 feet. This thrilling challenge is designed to raise awareness and funds for Less Leg More Heart’s mission of providing resources, support and advocacy for those living with limb loss and limb difference.

“The Fire Truck Pull is more than just a test of strength; it’s a testament to the power of community and compassion,” said Lorraine Connell, board member of Less Leg More Heart. “Every pull represents the resilience of individuals with limb loss and the incredible support of those who stand with them. We are excited to see the community come together for such an important cause.”

In addition to the Fire Truck Pull, the event will feature family-friendly activities, local vendors and educational opportunities to learn more about the work of Less Leg More Heart. Attendees will also have the chance to meet and hear stories from individuals who have been directly impacted by the organization’s efforts.

Less Leg More Heart has been a beacon of hope for those affected by limb loss, providing not only physical resources such as prosthetics but also emotional support and advocacy. The funds raised from this event will directly support their ongoing programs and initiatives.

“We’re calling on everyone in the community to come out, whether to pull, cheer, or simply show support,” said Tina Hurley, a founder of Less Leg More Heart. “Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of many.”

Online registration is available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fire-truck-team-pull-tickets-803499648077.

Team registration is $250. Individual registration is $25. Registration for vendors is $50. There is no charge for spectators.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the team with the greatest fundraising total and the most spirited crew.
