Nashua man charged with kidnapping
NASHUA – Andrew Colvin, 42, of Nashua, was taken into custody on Aug. 21 in connection with a kidnapping incident.
According to police, officers responded to Danforth Drive for a report of a stolen vehicle.
When officers arrived at the scene, the victim, whose identity has not been released, said her two children were in the backseat of the vehicle that was allegedly stolen by Colvin.
According to police, witnesses were able to stop the vehicle, which caused Colvin to get out and flee the area.
Officers located him a short time later and placed him under arrest. At the time, Colvin was reportedly out on bail from a previous prowling incident.
He has been charged with kidnapping, theft by unauthorized taking and driving after revocation or suspension. Because the children were not injured, the kidnapping charge was reduced from a Class A felony to a Class B felony.
Colvin was held on a $1,000 cash bail and was scheduled for arraignment in Nashua District Court on Aug. 22.
Under state law, if convicted, Colvin could face up to 22 years in prison, up to five years probation and up to $8,000 in fines.
