MERRIMACK – Joshua Pasek, 44, was arrested on Aug. 9 in connection with a domestic incident at a residential housing complex on Adams Avenue.

Upon arriving at the scene at 7:40 p.m., on Aug. 7, Merrimack Police were told by the victim, whose identity has not been released, that there had been a verbal dispute with Pasek, who was allegedly armed at the time.

During the confrontation, Pasek reportedly took the victim’s phone and threatened to physically harm them and another unidentified victim. The two victims were ultimately able to escape despite Pasek’s efforts to keep them at the residence.

However, it remained unclear if Pasek was still armed or if he had barricaded himself in the home. Therefore, police requested assistance from the Southern New Hampshire Special Operations Unit.

According to police, the residence was searched; however, officers could not locate Pasek. Although police negotiators were able to contact Pasek on the phone, they could not convince him to surrender.

Pasek turned himself into police two days later. He was held on Preventative Detention and was scheduled to be arraigned in Merrimack District Court on Aug. 12.

Pasek has been charged with criminal threatening, simple assault, false imprisonment, obstructing the report of a crime and reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon.

Under state law, if convicted, Pasek could face up to 11 years in prison, up to five years of probation and up to $12,000 in fines.
