NASHUA – Robert Reidy, 32, of Nashua, recently pleaded guilty to two firearms charges in connection with a five-hour standoff with police on Dec. 5, 2023.

According to police, officers arrived at Reidy’s Grand Avenue home at 1:30 that afternoon to execute a felony arrest warrant stemming from the sale of a controlled drug.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found that Reidy had barricaded himself inside the residence along with an unidentified woman and child.

In setting up a perimeter, police closed adjacent Ledge Street between First and Eighth streets. Neighborhood residents were also told to shelter in place.

After the perimeter was secured, additional equipment, including a Bearcat, was sent to the scene.

Although police were successful in getting the woman and child out of the house, Reidy still refused to comply. At that point, officers requested a second Bearcat and assistance from the Nashua and Manchester SWAT teams.

As daylight began to fade, officers reportedly fired gas cartridges through the windows and used a loudspeaker demanding Reidy to surrender.

The standoff finally came to an end at 6:20 p.m. when Reidy walked out the front door and was taken into custody.

According to police, Reidy later admitted to having “ghost guns.” According to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, these are firearms that do not have serial numbers and have been assembled by someone who is not a licensed manufacturer.

While searching Reidy’s home, investigators seized one short-barreled AR-style rifle with a silencer, three disassembled guns in the attic and 160 rounds of ammunition.

He has since pleaded guilty to one count of possession of firearms and ammunition by a prohibited person as well as one count of possession of unregistered firearms.

Reidy now faces up to 25 years in prison, up to six years probation and up to $260,000 in fines.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 29.
