NASHUA – Ryan Barden, 32, of Laconia, was sentenced to 37 years to life in prison after he recently pled guilty to his involvement in the second-degree murder of 35-year-old Jared Daly of Nashua.
According to the state Attorney General’s Office, Barden entered Daly’s Hanover Street apartment on Aug. 9, 2021 and killed him by striking him in the head with a metal pipe.
Daly’s body was found two days later when police conducted a well-being check.
A law enforcement task force tracked Barden to a residence in Belmont where he was found hiding inside a bedroom closet and was taken into custody.
In addition to Daly’s murder, Barden pled guilty to falsifying physical evidence, identity fraud, theft by unauthorized taking, tampering with witnesses and informants and disobeying an officer.
Barden’s minimum sentence could be reduced to 35 years provided that he completes a substance abuse program.
“Mr. Barden’s guilty plea and subsequent sentencing reflect the gravity of his actions in causing the death of Jared Daly and engaging in subsequent criminal behavior,” said Attorney General John Formella. “The court’s decision underscores our commitment to justice and holding individuals accountable for their crimes. Our thoughts remain with the Daly family, who have endured immeasurable loss. I commend the diligent work of law enforcement and our prosecution team who worked tirelessly to bring this case to resolution.”
