HUDSON – Jessica Benson, former principal of Lamprey River Elementary School in Raymond, was recently hired as the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction for the Hudson School District.

“We are fortunate to have Ms. Benson as the newly hired assistant superintendent,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Daniel Moulis, who has led the district since July 2022. “Her extensive career and educational knowledge will be a good benefit to advance curriculum, instruction and assessment goals and priorities.”

Prior to taking the helm at Lamprey River, Benson spent four years in the Windham School District. During that time, she served as the English Language Arts director for grades 5-12, interim assistant principal at Golden Brook School and curriculum director for grades K-4.

Benson’s career in education began in the Hooksett School District where she taught English Language Arts and English for Speakers of Other Languages. She was also the director of supplemental services and literacy for the Derry Cooperative School District.

Benson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the State University of New York Binghamton, a Master of Science degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language from Southern New Hampshire University and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies also from Southern New Hampshire University.

The School Board also voted unanimously to extend Moulis’ contract through June 2027. He has now been a superintendent for the past seven years having served in the same capacity in the Barrington School District from 2017 to 2022.

“The School Board is committed to improving student academic performance, the recruitment and retention of high-quality teachers and staff, collaboration and positive growth for the Hudson School District,” said School Board Chairwoman Maureen Dionne. “We are happy to have Superintendent Moulis’ continued leadership in these efforts. Since assuming the position two years ago, he has excelled in his commitment to the students and staff and the Board’s decision reflects our confidence in his ability to lead the district. The School Board looks forward to the implementation of a new strategic plan and believes he is the best person to provide stability and continuous progress toward achieving the district’s goals.”

Moulis received his Doctorate in Education in Learning, Leadership, and Community from Plymouth State University. He also holds a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies, a Master of Education degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of New Hampshire.

Students will return to the classroom on Aug. 26.
