NASHUA – Visiting Angels, the nation’s leading provider of in-home senior care, recently announced that Gloria Dela Cruz of Nashua is a finalist for its 2024 National Caregiver of the Year Award.
Dela Cruz, a caregiver for Visiting Angels Nashua, owned by Louise Murphy, was named one of the top three caregivers from a long list of nominations submitted by the company’s 600 franchise locations. The award recognizes Dela Cruz for her commitment to enhancing the lives of her clients with exceptional care and positivity.
“Gloria consistently goes the extra mile, even when dealing with some of our most challenging cases. Her positive can-do attitude makes it seem easy,” said Murphy. “Compassion and empathy exude from her heart and shine in everything she does.”
Dela Cruz has been a caregiver for nearly 20 years and has provided more than 7,500 hours of care while working with Visiting Angels. She provides comfort and understanding to complex caring situations and has helped transform the lives of her clients. For one client’s husband, who was struggling with his wife’s advanced Alzheimer’s diagnosis, Dela Cruz was able to help him find time for himself to pursue activities he enjoys. She helped him understand what his wife was going through and taught him ways to support her.
“Gloria is one of the kindest and most considerate professional caregivers I have ever met. Her respect for our Kosher household and her unwavering patience with my wife improved our lives so much,” said Perry, a client’s husband. “I’m okay because of Visiting Angels and Gloria, and if I ever need a caregiver, I want her by my side.”
As a Caregiver of the Year finalist, Dela Cruz will receive $2,500 and an award at an upcoming ceremony.
“Gloria represents the best of what it means to be a caregiver at Visiting Angels,” said Larry Meigs, CEO of Visiting Angels. “Her dedication, compassion, and positive attitude not only improve the lives of her clients but also inspire everyone around her. She sets a high standard for excellence in care giving.”
