Pelham man dies in officer-involved shooting

NASHUA – Ryan Prudhomme, 41, of Pelham, died on the evening of June 2 after being shot in the chest by Nashua Police.
As of June 5, the state Attorney General’s Office had no further information as to why lethal force was used against Prudhomme. The incident remains under investigation.
According to the AG’s Office, officers arrived at the Lowe’s home improvement store at 143 Daniel Webster Hwy. just before 8:45 p.m.
They had reportedly been contacted by Pelham Police who indicated that Prudhomme was observed leaving his home armed with a handgun. One of his relatives had reportedly contacted Pelham Police expressing concern for Prudhomme, who was suffering from mental illness.
A short time later, Nashua Police encountered Prudhomme in the Lowe’s parking lot. At the time, Prudhomme was still in possession of the gun.
At some point during the confrontation, two officers shot non-lethal munitions at Prudhomme while a third officer reportedly fired a single round that struck him in the chest.
Although life saving measures were attempted, Prudhomme did not survive the gunshot wound.
The identities of the officers involved in the incident will not be released until formal interviews are completed.
Police remained on the scene until the following morning.
