Chop Shop 166 to host LEGO Summer Camp

By Staff | May 20, 2024

MERRIMACK – The Merrimack FIRST Robotics team, Chop Shop 166, will be hosting its annual LEGO Summer Camp from July 22-26.

The camp will be held at Merrimack Middle School, 31 Madeline Bennett Ln. from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The camp is open to children ages 8-12. All materials will be provided and no experience is necessary.

During the event, participants will learn how to build and program LEGO EV3 robots and partake in numerous challenges.

“The LEGO Summer Camp is a great opportunity to work closely with high school students that have a passion for STEM and robotics,” said Matthew Gage, lead mentor of Chop Shop 166.

Participants will have the opportunity to work with high school students from Chop Shop 166 and learn various STEM-related skills. Some of the activities include racing, jousting and navigating a maze.

“LEGO Summer Camp is one of my favorite events to volunteer at, mainly because you can see how the campers are learning and growing throughout the week,” said Katie, outreach lead for Chop Shop 166. “You can also see different skill levels coming into the event, and by the end of the week every kid has learned something.”

To sign up for the camp, follow the registration instructions on Chop Shop’s website at https://www.chopshop166.com/educational-events/lego-summer-camp or email 166.first@gmail.com for more information.
