NASHUA – Kyle Freeman, 23, of Merrimack, sustained life-threatening injuries and his passenger, Brandee LaBarge, 23, of Manchester, died after they were thrown from their Nissan Altima at 1:40 a.m. on April 22.

According to police, officers were responding to a report of an assault involving a deadly weapon at the Residence Inn at 25 Trafalgar Sq.

While en route, police noticed the Altima going the wrong way on Somerset Parkway. To make matters worse, the vehicle was coming directly at them.

According to police, the vehicle then crossed back over the median to avoid a head-on collision and accelerated past them at an “extremely high rate of speed” with its headlights off.

A short time later, officers reported hearing a loud crash in the parking lot of 402 Amherst St. Police and medical personnel found the Altima upside down on the bank of a small pond.

The preliminary investigation suggests that the vehicle was traveling south on Somerset Parkway, crossed over Amherst Street, went through a parking lot hitting several objects before going airborne and landing on the other side of the pond.

Although LaBarge survived the crash, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Freeman was taken via MedFlight to a Boston area hospital. His current condition was not immediately available.

Details regarding the earlier alleged assault have not been released; however, police believe that incident is connected to the crash.
