NASHUA – The city’s Division of Public Health and Community Services will keep its national accreditation for another five years following a lengthy review process by the Public Health Accreditation Board.

It is also the first and only health department in New Hampshire to be accredited.

“I am extremely proud of the hard work that has been put in by the team at DPHCS,” said Bobbie Bagley, the city’s chief public health official. “To maintain day to day services and successfully meet the rigorous requirements to achieve re-accreditation demonstrates the exceptional staff working for the city of Nashua. This is also a reflection of the complementary efforts of our community partners in our collaborative work together to promote, preserve and protect the residents and visitors in the city.”

Paul Kuehnert, president and CEO of the Public Health Accreditation Board, said he appreciates the long-term commitment that local health officials have to being accredited.

“We are extremely pleased to be at the point in the accreditation program where the Nashua Division of Public Health and Community Services, along with many others, are successfully maintaining their five-year accreditation status through PHAB,” he said.

The Division of Public Health and Community Services was initially accredited in March 2017 and has since demonstrated the capability to keep pace with the city’s growing and changing health needs.

The division itself consists of four departments including Community Services, Community Health, Welfare and Environmental Health.

Some of the services offered include lead testing, immunizations, Tuberculosis treatment, sexual wellness education as well as food inspections and licensing.
