NASHUA – James Thompson, 38, of Nashua, was arrested on March 24 after reportedly holding a man against his will at Clocktower Place.

The man’s identity has not been released.

According to police, at 4:27 a.m., officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired at 1 Clocktower Pl. One of those calls was allegedly made by the victim indicating that he was in danger; however, he could not provide officers with his location.

A short time later, the man called back. This time, he was able to tell police that he was in the parking lot of 2 Clocktower Pl.

Further investigation suggested that Thompson knew the man. Thompson, who was reportedly armed, fired his gun and hit four vehicles that were parked at 1 Clocktower Pl. He also allegedly fired several rounds through a glass door to gain entry into the apartment building.

According to police, Thompson went to the victim’s apartment and held him at gunpoint, allegedly threatening him multiple times.

The victim was ultimately released unharmed.

However, a struggle reportedly broke out as police took Thompson into custody resulting in Thompson and one of the officers sustaining minor injuries.

In addition to one count of kidnapping, Thompson has been charged with two counts of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, three counts of criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, one count of simple assault, four counts of criminal mischief, two counts of resisting arrest and one count of criminal trespassing.

Under state law, if convicted, Thompson could face up to 24 years in prison, up to 15 years of probation and up to $18,000 in fines.

Thompson was held on preventative detention and was scheduled to be arraigned in the Ninth Circuit Nashua District Division Court on March 25.
