Nashua man dies in police-involved shooting on Marie Avenue
NASHUA – A domestic disturbance at 49 Marie Ave. ended with the death of 40-year-old Heath Thompson from wounds he sustained when Nashua Police officers opened fire on him just before noon on Jan. 20.
According to police, officers arrived at the residence at 11:47 a.m. after receiving a 911 call indicating that Thompson was armed with a handgun.
Upon arrival, the four officers reportedly found Thompson to be confrontational, prompting three of them to fire their weapons at him.
According to police, Thompson went back inside the residence where he was found to be “unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.” He was later pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The names of the officers involved will not be released until formal interviews have been completed.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted by the state Department of Justice and the State Police Major Crimes Unit.
