NASHUA – Paige Beauchemin, a candidate in the Hillsborough District 3 race, recently got a leg up from the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, which recognized her as a Spotlight Candidate in the upcoming special election.

“New Hampshire House Republicans are on a losing streak, yet continue to put forward extreme right-wing candidates that are out-of-touch with Granite State voters,” said interim DLCC President Heather Williams. “We are focused on taking every single opportunity to shift the balance of power in New Hampshire and to break the state’s GOP trifecta. We are proud to be shining a spotlight on Paige Beauchemin and with a victory on Nov. 7, Democrats will keep this chamber’s majority in play as we head into 2024.”

Beauchemin will face Republican David Narkunas in the Nov. 7 special election.

Campaign spokesperson Abhi Rahman said Beauchemin is running to “defend New Hampshire’s Hillsborough 3 House District in Nashua against an extremist Republican candidate who has spread dangerous conspiracy theories and made disparaging remarks about educators.”

Rahman also said Beauchemin is committed to protecting abortion rights and to improving access to affordable health care.

“Her victory is critical for keeping Democrats within reach of breaking New Hampshire’s current Republican trifecta,” he said.

Should she win the day in November, Beauchemin would fill the seat previously occupied by former State Rep. David Cote, who resigned in July. She would also join Democratic incumbents Fred Davis and Marc Plamondon.

“A win could put the seat count at 197 Democrats to 198 Republicans,” said Rahman. “Just one seat away from a tie and two seats from an outright Democratic majority with at least two special elections still to be called. The DLCC has not only won every special election in New Hampshire this year, our candidates have matched national trends and overperformed as well.”

Beauchemin was unopposed in the special primary election on Sept. 19 and garnered 84 votes.

She is a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital and a member of the Nashua Family Network. Beauchemin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Chatham University and received her nursing certification from the Shadyside School of Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh.
