United Way planning Oct. 16 food collection at Kimball Farm
PEPPERELL, Mass. – On Monday, Oct. 16, United Way of Greater Nashua volunteers are planning to harvest a few thousand pounds of food left in the fields of Kimball Fruit Farm at 184 Hollis St. in Pepperell, Mass. after the farm’s initial harvest. The food collected will be donated to places such as Tolles Street Mission, Corpus Christi Food Pantry, the Salvation Army, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua, Southern NH Rescue Mission and the Nashua Soup Kitchen.
Hunger is a pervasive problem across the United States. Hunger means more than missing a meal. For some families, it often means having to choose between buying groceries or paying rent. By gleaning, United Way volunteers will fight hunger and support health by distributing fresh and local produce to those in need in our community.
Volunteers of all ages are invited to participate in this event which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers are asked to register online at https://tinyurl.com/Glean2023 For more information about this project please contact United Way at info@unitedwaynashua.org or at 603-882-4011.
