Marques Stanford

NASHUA – Marques Stanford, 34, of Nashua, was recently taken into police custody for robbery and criminal threatening with a deadly weapon.

According to police, officers responded on Sept. 12 to a report of threats being made. Upon arrival, the victim, whose identity has not been released, informed police that Stanford had allegedly attempted to steal his car keys.

It is not clear where the incident took place.

As the victim attempted to get away, Stanford allegedly ran after him and assaulted him. However, the victim was able to get to a local convenience store and hid in a backroom. Meanwhile, according to police, Stanford “paced around the store” holding a large knife and demanded to know where the victim went.

Although Stanford had fled the scene by the time officers arrived at the convenience store, they located him a short time later and placed him under arrest.

In addition to robbery and criminal threatening, Stanford has also been charged with convicted felons and three counts of simple assault.

He was held on preventative detention and was arraigned at the Hillsborough County Superior Court-South on Sept. 13.

Under state law, if convicted, Stanford could face up to 22 years in prison and a fine of up to $2,000.
