NASHUA – St. Joseph Hospital recently welcomed Dr. Ciara Kazakis and Christina Shaffer, a physician assistant, to its team of healthcare professionals on Amherst Street.

Kazakis and Shaffer come to St. Joseph from Southern New Hampshire Internal Medicine Associates in Derry.

Kazakis, a Hollis resident, said the hospital’s team approach, unity among colleagues and high level of patient care are what drew her to St. Joseph.

“They all genuinely enjoy what they do, are supportive to each other and go the extra mile to make sure patients’ needs are met,” she said. “The environment has been very warm and welcoming and I feel privileged and humbled to be a part of the St. Joe’s family.”

Prior to her work at Southern New Hampshire Internal Medicine, Kazakis spent one year at a hospital in Syracuse, N.Y. during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kazakis received her undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire, Durham, her graduate degree from the University of South Florida and her medical degree from the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Like Kazakis, Shaffer also appreciated St. Joseph’s collegial environment and the hospital’s involvement in the city.

She also said the team at St. Joseph has cared for her family in various capacities for the past 28 years.

“I am excited to now be part of the system that has taken such good care of my family,” said Shaffer.

Shaffer received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and her graduate degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Kazakis and Christina Shaffer to our team,” said St. Joseph President John Jurczyk. “Their experience, dedication, and patient-centered approach align perfectly with our mission of providing exceptional care to our community. We are confident that their presence will enhance the services we offer and further strengthen our commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of our patients.”
