DERRY — The Milford High School football team’s Division II title hopes were dashed as the Spartans couldn’t manage enough offense in a 13-10 loss to the Timberlane Owls, 13-10, at Pinkerton Academy.

Timberlane led the entire way, back Dom Pallaria ran for 157 yards, 51 of them coming on a touchdown run in the second quarter that gave Timberlane a 7-0 lead. The Owls got field goals from Harrison Bloom of 36 yards on the next to last play of the half to lead 10-3 and a 21-yarder with 8:50 to play to give the Owls (12-0) a 13-3 lead.

Milford finally got in the end zone on a 7-yard Caden Zalenski run the helped cut the gap to 13-10 with 3:32 to play. But the ensuing on-sides kick went out of bounds at midfield and the Owls were able to run out the clock.

Milford’s other point came on a Colin Gregg 37-yard field goal with 4:02 left in the first half, cutting the margin to 7-3.

Milford finishes the season 8-3, reaching their first title game since 2004. The Owls captured their first championship since 2001.

In the Division I game, Londonderry bounced back from a 7-0 deficit to outlast Winnacunnet, 24-14 in Exeter. The Lancers captured their second title in three years.
