Hollis deaths ruled murder-suicide; victims identified

By Staff | Mar 31, 2019

HOLLIS – The man and woman found dead in a home in the southern part of town Saturday were both shot in the head in what authorities are calling a murder-suicide.

The death of Alisa Mayo, 41, was ruled a homicide, while Brian McDonough, 51, died of suicide, according to the results of an autopsy state Chief Medical Examiner Jennie Duval conducted Sunday, authorities said.

The bodies were found in a large, 9-room cape-style home at 5 Deer Run Drive late Saturday morning. Police said Hollis officers discovered them when they responded to the home to check the welfare of the occupants.

Although the investigation into the circumstances of the deaths is continuing, authorities said it appears McDonough “shot and killed Mayo then shot and killed himself,” according to a statement issued Sunday evening.

While they said McDonough and Mayo know each other, investigators didn’t describe the nature of their relationship.
