NASHUA – The police investigation into the 2016 drug overdose that claimed the life of a young woman in Nashua has yielded an arrest, police said Tuesday.
Lindsey Tierno, 29, of 15 Gillis St., is charged with one count of falsifying physical evidence, a felony, for allegedly “removing evidence from the scene with a purpose to impair … the investigation,” according to police.
Tierno was booked on the charge and later released on personal recognizance bail, police said. Her arraignment, which is scheduled for March 6, will take place in Nashua district court rather than Hillsborough County Superior Court-South, because the alleged crime took place before the so-called “felonies first” arraignment format was launched in September 2017.
Police didn’t identify the woman who died of the overdose, but said officers were called to a home on East Dunstable Road in May 2016 after receiving a report that someone had overdosed at that location.
An ambulance transported the woman to a local hospital, where she died “a few days later,” police said.
Her death was ruled an accidental overdose of ethanol (alcohol intoxication) and fentanyl, they added.
During their investigation, police said detectives determined Tierno was at the residence at the time of the overdose, but allegedly left before police arrived.
While police said the charge accuses Tierno of removing evidence from the scene, they didn’t specify what type of evidence was involved. Nor did they indicate whether they expect to file additional charges or make additional arrests in connection with the case.
Police ask anyone with any information regarding the case to contact the department’s Crime Line at 603-589-1665.
