NASHUA – Millyard Brewery celebrated its grand opening at a new location, 25 East Otterson St., in Nashua on Saturday
afternoon.
The nano brewery outgrew its previous spot next door that offered them roughly 400 square feet of space, compared to 1,000 square feet in the new location.
“It allows us to expand the brewing side of things, become more efficient and organized and make more beer,” co-owner Ken Unsworth said.
Brewing since 2007, the duo opened their first location in April of 2016. The brewery features 14 styles of beer, and 12 taps – rotated seasonally.
“Local people appreciate the beer we make because of the variety of styles,” co-owner Dean Baxter said. “We have a style to meet everyone’s taste.”
Some of their signature brews include the Nashua Pale Ale, with an ABV of 5.3 percent, and the Merrimack American Indian Pale Ale, with an ABV of 7.1
percent.
The Merrimack Valley grew to become the largest cotton and textile manufacturing area in the world during the early days of the industrial revolution. According to Baxter, all the company’s brews are named after different local mill buildings.
However, despite their local appeal Baxter said many people from out of town also are drawn to the brewery, which is open from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 1-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
“55 percent of our business is females,” Baxter said. “There’s a high number of females coming in here because we make unique beers, and offer different styles.”
A list of those different beers can be found online at www.millyardbrewery.com.
“People like the vibe,” Baxter said. “We’re also doing music on Saturday’s from 4 to 7 p.m. It’s a low-key vibe.”
The brewery also offers up a variety of hot sandwiches for customers to enjoy while sipping on a beer, and beginning in May the venue will host to a monthly comedy
club.
“The key is the music and the vibe here. It’s not a loud place,” Baxter said. “There’s also free parking out front.”
