David Trombly, the 32-year-old Amherst resident whose older brother, John, shot and killed their mother, Elizabeth, and then himself in a 2014 murder-suicide that stunned the town, has been indicted on charges accusing him of attempting to burn down

the Meadow Lane home where the incident occurred.

The three indictments – one count each of attempted arson and possession of cocaine, Class B felonies, and one information count of breach of bail conditions, a Class A misdemeanor – list Trombly’s address as 1 Meadow Lane.

The indictments are among those handed up this week by the grand jury for the February term of Hillsborough County Superior Court, Northern division.

An indictment is not an indication, or proof of, guilt, but represents the grand jury’s determination that enough evidence exists for prosecutors to move the case forward in Superior Court.

The first indictment against Trombly, on the Class B felony charge of attempted arson, alleges that on Jan. 5, he “put gasoline or another flammable substance on the floor of 1 Meadow Lane … placing first responders, emergency personnel, (a person identified as) M.G., and/or himself in danger of serious bodily injury,” according to the documents.

The other felony indictment accuses Trombly of possessing cocaine in a quantity of less than a half-ounce on Nov. 5, 2017, while the misdemeanor breach of bail charge alleges Trombly violated bail conditions set the day after the Nov. 5 arrest by allegedly committing the Jan. 5 attempted arson.

Elizabeth Trombly, who was 69 and a popular reading specialist at Captain Samuel Douglass Academy in Brookline at the time of her death, was listed on town records as the owner of 1 Meadow Lane until 2016, at which time David P. Trombly became the owner, according to the town’s database.

Other Greater Nashua residents indicted in the northern division in February include the following.

John Cushing, 73, of 29 Berkley St., Merrimack. Six counts, aggravated felonious sexual assault – victim under age 13, Class S (special) felonies; and two counts, felonious sexual assault – sexual contact, victim under age 13, Class B felonies, for allegedly sexually molesting two girls over the course of seven months, when one was 4-5 years old and the other 7-8 years old, between June 1, 2016 and Dec. 31, 2016, in Weare.

Cassandra Davis, 27, of 15 Shedds Avenue, Nashua. One count each, burglary, and accomplice to burglary, Class A felonies, for allegedly illegally entering a Manchester residence “to commit the crime of assault,” and entering the residence while acting in concert with another, also to commit the crime of assault, on Oct. 19, 2017, in Manchester.

Jarrod Rossi, 37, of 33 Bridge St., Nashua. Two counts, theft – two prior convictions, Class B felonies, for allegedly stealing a bag of wire and a spool of copper wire belonging to a Manchester business, after having twice been convicted of receiving stolen property, on July 19 and 21, 2017 in Manchester.

Alexandria Wright, 24, of 73 Wilson Hill Road, merrimack. One count, criminal mischief, Class B felony, for allegedly “purposely damaging a 1997 Acura vehicle belonging to another … causing pecuniary loss” in the amount of roughly $4,500, on Aug. 15, 2017, in Manchester.
