Litchfield PD nabs Nashuan

Man allegedly eluded police after attempted motor vehicle stop

By Adam Urquhart - Staff Writer | Jan 17, 2018

With the help of state and Hudson police officers, Litchfield Police were able to arrest a Nashua man on felony and misdemeanor charges.

Early Tuesday morning at about 12:30 a.m., the Litchfield Police Department attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on Derry Road on a white Chevrolet Silverado for excessive speed. However, the driver of the Silverado, who was later identified as Cornelius C. Stanley Jr., 45, of Nashua, didn’t pull over in response to the cruisers emergency lights and sirens. Instead, the Silverado increased speed, attempting to elude the police cruiser.

Litchfield Police continued after the truck, which was eventually found abandoned in a driveway located at the end of Rotterdam Drive.

Once the vehicle had been located, LPD requested assistance from the New Hampshire State Police K-9 unit to locate the driver of the Silverado. Litchfield, state and Hudson Police officers began searching the area around Rotterdam Drive.

While doing so, police received an emergency call from a residence on Rotterdam, and it was reported that an unknown male had entered that residence. When police responded, LPD officials located Stanley in the basement of the home, hanging halfway out a broken window. He was taken into custody and held on $25,000 cash bail, and was arraigned at the Nashua Superior Court Tuesday afternoon on the charges of burglary, operating a motor vehicle while being a habitual offender, disobeying an officer, criminal mischief and excessive speed.
