NASHUA – Roughly three weeks after a Superior Court judge accepted an agreement that places five misdemeanor counts of domestic-related assault against Nashua resident Courtney Vespa on file without a finding for one year, Vespa was back in police custody late last week on similar allegations involving another alleged victim.

Vespa, 22, who is alternately listed in court documents as residing at 35 1/2 Whitney St., and as having no fixed address, was arrested early the morning of Aug. 25 after police were called to a Crown Hill residence to investigate a report that Vespa had allegedly “assaulted a male known to her and threatened him with a knife,” police said.

The man, age 27, sustained minor injuries, police said. They didn’t say whether he required hospitalization or was otherwise treated.

After investigating, police charged Vespa with one count of domestic violence-criminal threatening, a Class B felony, and five counts of domestic violence-simple assault, Class A misdemeanors.

The felony charge stems from the allegation that Vespa, during the altercation, “took possession of a knife from the kitchen, approached (the alleged victim) with it while holding it in the air with the blade pointed toward (his) chest, which placed him in fear,” police wrote in their reports.

The misdemeanor offenses accuse Vespa of various assault allegations, including striking the alleged victim in the face with her hands, pulling his hair, scratching him on the chest and pulling his scrotum, according to police.

They also said a member of Vespa’s family who was present at the time provided police with a statement that corroborated what the alleged victim told police.

Vespa had left the residence by the time police arrived, but they located her a short time later and took her into custody, police said.

At her subsequent arraignment and bail hearing, Vespa was granted personal recognizance bail pending her next court appearance, which is a dispositional conference scheduled for Oct. 20 in Superior Court.

Conditions of her bail include that she have no contact with the alleged victim, stay at least 300 feet away from him, and stay with relatives who live in the Concord area. She is also prohibited from coming to Nashua, with the exception of court appearances or to meet with her lawyers, according to the bail order.

Meanwhile, Vespa’s earlier arrest took place May 16, when she was charged with five misdemeanor counts of domestic violence-simple assault for allegedly attacking the family member who lives at the Crown Hill residence.

Police reports indicate the altercation was triggered by the family member’s refusal to OK Vespa’s request that her boyfriend be allowed to stay overnight at the residence.

When the family member said no, police said Vespa allegedly “confronted” the family member. According to the charging documents, Vespa allegedly grabbed and bit the family member’s neck and punched her in both eyes and on the top of her head.

In late July, Nashua district court Judge John a. Curran accepted the agreement that placed the five charges on file without a finding for one year, on the condition that Vespa “engage in mental health treatment” and that she remain on good behavior.
