NASHUA – Applications are being accepted for this year’s Citizen Police Academy, the annual nine-week program that offers Nashua residents “a unique opportunity to see ow their police department functions,” according to Chief Michael Carignan.

Sessions take place on successive Thursdays from 6:30-9:30 p.m., beginning Sept. 10 and running through Nov. 5.

This year, sessions will be limited, due to the ongoing precautions being taken against the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Lt. Carlos Camacho, an organizer of this year’s 32nd academy.

Therefore reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis, Camacho added.

To register, contact Camacho at 594-3527, and leave your name, address, telephone number and email address. Camacho can also be reached at camachoc@nashuapd.com.

Attendees will see demonstrations by members of the department’s SWAT Team, K-9 Unit and Hazardous Device Unit, and will learn more about the functions of the department’s various bureaus.

Those include the Uniformed Field Operations Bureau, Detective Bureau, Legal Bureau, Professional Standards Bureau and Services Bureau.
