Michael C. Orleans, 43, of Merrimack

MERRIMACK – A dozen charges accusing Michael C. Orleans of possessing and distributing child sexual abuse images have been lodged against the 43-year-old Merrimack man, police said.

Orleans was arrested over the weekend on a warrant, police said, which was issued following a seven-month investigation by officers and detectives from Merrimack and Nashua, along with members of the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

Orleans faces 10 counts of possession of, and two counts of distribution of, child sexual abuse images, according to police.

They said that “through the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect to this case, Michael C. Orleans, had downloaded and made publicly available numerous child sexual abuse images over the internet.”

Police said Orleans was booked on the charges, then refused bail. He was transported to jail pending arraignment, which was to take place in Hillsborough County Superior Court in Nashua.

The results of the arraignment, and a subsequent bail hearing, weren’t immediately available.
