Greater Nashua Flashback

By Courtesy of NASHUA PUBLIC LIBRARY - | Oct 29, 2022

With Veterans Day coming up, parades might be on the minds of some folks who still like to come downtown, set up chairs on the sidewalk, perhaps buy a small flag or something from a vendor and watch the divisions pass by. This photo, in the Nashua Public Library's collection, shows a drum corps marching south on Main Street past the strip of buildings that were part of the "bottleneck," the nickname given to the configuration that squeezed southbound traffic into one lane between Water and Factory streets. The signs on the stores are blurred, but the one for Vanity Fair Beauty Salon is visible at center. The "bottleneck" was removed in 1958. (Courtesy of NASHUA PUBLIC LIBRARY)
