Courtesy of Nashua Historical Society In a scene right out of a Norman Rockwell calendar, or perhaps a set for an "Our Gang" (or "The Little Rascals") episode, three barefoot young boys, possibly carrying fishing equipment, walk along a dirt path on the shore of what is believed to be Sandy Pond, the small, round pond bordered by Pine, Lake, Ross and National streets that years ago was a popular swimmng hole in the summer, and in the winter was the home rink for Nashua's National Club hockey team. It appears that the pond had either a waterslide or a really steep ramp leading from some type of deck to the edge of the pond. Some years ago, the city installed a playground on the National Street side of the pond, but swimming isn't allowed. (Courtesy of Nashua Historical Society)
