Like the sign says, this building, which has been the Nashua Children's Home for many years, was at the time the Nashua Protestant Orphanage, which opened in 1903 and grew from there. According to historical accounts, the name came from a man named Mr. Fletcher, who formed the Protestant Orphanage Association and named five men as its first board of directors.
