Greater Nashua Flashback
The Mike Shalhoup Collection It was 66 years ago this week that the late Telegraph photographer Mike Shalhoup clambered up a railroad flagman's perch to capture this and scores of other photos of the Union Station train wreck, which occurred early the morning of Nov. 12, 1954. Just past dawn, a B&M passenger train was approaching the station but, according to investigators, it was going too fast. The resulting crash was heard for a mile, including into nearby Hudson. Despite the amount of damage, only one person was killed, and 21 others injured.
