UNOs to host cancer fundraiser
UNO Pizzeria and Grill will bring Christmas to July for a week-long fundraiser benefiting the McKenzie Lowe Foundation, named for Hudson seventh grader who died October 2014 at age 13 after a two-year battle against brain cancer.
The McKenzie Lowe Foundation raises money to fight pediatric brain cancer, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma and also supports local students, including four scholarships awarded to Alvirne seniors scholarships in June at the Alvirne Senior Awards night.
Starting with a wine tasting Monday, the Christmas in July celebration continues with a Christmas party for children Tuesday night from 6-8 p.m.
"Kids can make a holiday craft, decorate sugar cookies and receive goodie bags," said Deb Caron, a spokeswoman for the restaurant.
July 29 and 30 are geared toward adults and include half off appetizers and drink specials Wednesday evening, and holiday trivia with prizes Thursday at 8 p.m.
The McKenzie Lowe Foundation will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from raffle prizes and 20 percent of food and drink sales if the guest shows the "dough raiser" ticket to their server.
Dough raiser tickets can be found and printed from the UNO Facebook page, www.facebook.com/ unonashua.amherst.
"We will also be collecting unwrapped toys for local charities to help them get a head start on their holiday toy drive," Caron said.
