BEACH VOLLEYBALL FOR ADULTS/TEENS

Hollis/Brookline Beach Vol­leyball hosts adult and teen open play twice each week at the sand courts at the Brook­line Ball Park. HOLLIS SUMMER TENNIS CAMP

Hollis summer tennis camp will return for a third year being instructed by Florida tennis professional Greg Reardon. The class will be of­fered at the Hollis town courts for two weeks and will be for ages 7-15 for all levels from introduction to advanced. CAVALIERS SUMMER BASKETBALL SKILLS ACADEMY

The Hollis Brookline High School boys basketball program will offer the eighth annual Cavaliers Summer Basketball Skills Academy for boys entering grades 4-9. The camp will take place 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. July 20-24 at the school. The camp will be staffed by current and former Hollis Brookline varsity play­ers and coaches. We strive to offer your child a unique basketball experience built upon skill development. The theme is "Preparation – When opportunity comes, it is too late to prepare." Space will be limited to the first 100 to register. Forms can be found on the athletic page of the Hollis Brookline High website. Bring your basketball shoes, a snack with plenty of water, a bagged lunch (grades 7-9) and a strong desire to learn.

Beaver Brook summer camps are offered through Aug. 14 for students ages 4-16. All classes have unique themes and expose children to a wide variety of natural places. Children will be explor­ing, learning and playing or creating outside – building forts in the forest, catching frogs, taking pictures, hiking, drawing, going on field trips, learning survival skills, gar­dening or other outdoor fun. New offerings include Camp Cuisine, A Week in the Woods, Forest Village, Outdoor Explor­ers and Frogs, Turtles, Snakes, Oh My!

Forest Freetime is 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, following each camp session. Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Register in advance. $75/week.

CONCORD: PADDLE FOR A NEW PERSPECTIVE

On July 26, Five Rivers Con­servation Trust will host its third annual Merrimack River Paddle trip from Boscawen to Concord. The trip will provide a new perspective of the Merrimack River. Discounted canoe and kayak rentals will be available at Quickwater Canoe and Kayak and free shuttles between the put in and take out will be provided. Participants must pre-register by emailing info@5rct.org or calling 225-7225, and make necessary rental arrange­ments (753-0025, www. quickwatercanoe.com) by July 22. Beginning at noon, pad­dlers can launch their boat at the County Farm boat launch in Boscawen and paddle 10 miles down the Merrimack to the Quickwater take-out, on the Canterbury/Concord town line. At 12:30, a naturalist will launch with anyone who would like to learn more about the natural history of the river and surrounding area. The trip will take 3-4 hours of pad­dling, floating and splashing, so participants should bring lots of water, snacks and sunscreen. At take out, light refreshments will be provided. Paddlers can bring their own boat, life jacket and paddles or rent equipment in advance from Quickwater. Free, but contributions to Five Rivers will be gratefully accepted.

The Animal Rescue Network of New England is a nonprofit organization that rescues pets that are scheduled for death row from the South because there simply are not enough homes. They spay, neuter, vaccinate, microchip and treat any medical conditions and then place them in carefully screened forever homes. They are looking for donations of money, gift cards (gas, build­ing, office and pet supplies), large Martingale collars (no chains), heavy-duty leashes, slip leashes, cotton/fleece throw-size blankets (no stuff­ing/wool), sheets, HE laundry detergent and cleaning tabs, two-drawer filing cabinet, small folding table (variable height).
