By Staff | May 17, 2019

AMHERST – New Hampshire Businesses for Social Responsibility, a Concord-based nonprofit that works to promote socially and environmentally responsible business in the state, announced its 2019 Cornerstone and Partnership for Innovation Award winners at its 18th annual spring conference held on May 1. Winners of the Cornerstone and Partnership for Innovation Award were chosen for their efforts in promoting corporate social responsibility within the New Hampshire business community.

Amy LaBelle, co-owner and founder of LaBelle Winery, which has locations in Amherst and Portsmouth, was presented with the 2019 Cornerstone Award. She was recognized for consistently introducing environmental and socially responsible initiatives at the winery and in the local community.

LaBelle’s employees, who nominated her for the award, describe her as “wearing her values on her sleeve.” Cornerstone Award sponsor Kerrie Diers of Normandeau Associates, an environmental consulting firm based in Bedford, read comments from the employees’ nomination, “[LaBelle] walks the talk, believing that the more her business grows and becomes successful, the more she should give back to the community.”

“I am honored that LaBelle Winery has been recognized for our work in the community, and hope that this award helps to inspire others to also put sustainability and charity first in their business growth plans,” LaBelle said.

The Cornerstone Award is named for the cornerstone of a building, a significant first building block. NHBSR chose the name with the belief that corporate social responsibility should be the foundation of every business, and a basic building block of our economy and society. The Cornerstone Award has been presented annually by NHBSR since 2007.

NHBSR’s Partnership for Innovation Award was presented to Timberland and Girls at Work Inc. for their collaborative efforts toward building a stronger community.
