Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 12:00 Noon
Using composer Antonín Dvořák’s sublime Moravian duets as inspiration, the inimitable New Hampshire storyteller Odds Bodkin collaborated with Concord Community Music School faculty member Jazimina MacNeil to craft an original fairytale, Danika the Rose, which is woven throughout the musical performance of Dvořák’s duets. An unshakable kinship with the natural world, a courageous heroine, and love triumphant unite in a melding of story and song for our tumultuous time. This recording of the first-of-its-kind performance was made on May 23 at the American Philosophical Society’s Benjamin Franklin Hall, and is being shared with Concord Community Music School courtesy of the artists and the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society.
