Bobola’s Family Restaurant serves the comfort of home

By EMILY VASSAR - Telegraph Staff | Oct 10, 2020

Uncomplicated are the missions of many family-owned restaurants. Home-style cooking, variety, fair prices, friendly service: these standards make up the foundation of a successful establishment, and Greater Nashua enjoys many such eateries. Having originally set up shop in Dracut, MA, in 2005, Bobola’s Family Restaurant opened their doors again in Nashua in March of 2019. Siblings and business partners, the owners model their endeavors on their father’s mantra, instilled in them as kids growing up working in his restaurants: “Give them great food (and) great portions at a great price.”

Adhering to standards like that, it’s no surprise at all that the family has found such success over the past fifteen years.

Bobola’s of Nashua is currently open four days a week (they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays) for lunch and dinner, Saturdays for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Sundays for breakfast only. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, pop in any time for all-day happy hours, featuring $5.00 martinis and margaritas, $3.00 select draft beers, and half-priced appetizers.

The breakfast menu at Bobola’s is quite impressive, featuring all of the staples and several surprises. Classic French Toast, as well as versions featuring raisins, coffee rolls, cinnamon toast or even Cap’n Crunch are a sugary introductory note. Waffles follow, with options of the Belgian persuasion, chocolate chip, banana nut, bacon or chicken and waffle, offering sweet and savory. Buttermilk pancakes are always reliable, and Bobola’s provides the classic stack as well as several varieties that are a sweet tooth’s dream; choose from banana nut, peanut butter cup, featuring chocolate and peanut butter chips, The Elvis, boasting peanut butter chips, banana slices and peanut butter sauce, and the Blueberry Explosion, touting blueberries mixed inside and a warm blueberry compote drizzled over.

Hefty plates of breakfast favorites are sure to please, and the crew at Bobola’s, true to their father’s words, don’t skimp on the portions. The Original Belly Buster consists of three eggs cooked to your liking, two strips of bacon, sausage links or patties, home fries, your choice of toast, as well as two buttermilk pancakes or two slices of French toast. Southern and Midwestern inspired plates are sure to satisfy; choose from the Country Breakfast of three eggs, two bacon strips, country ham, sausage, home fries and toast, Chicken and Biscuits drenched in homemade sausage gravy, Steak Tips and Eggs accompanied by home fries and toast, The Southerner, featuring eggs, sausage, home fries and a grilled buttermilk biscuit with gravy, or a Cheeseburger Scrambler, bursting with hamburger, peppers, onions, mushrooms and cheddar cheese.

Bobola’s creates amazing breakfast sandwiches that are good for a sit-down visit- but they are also convenient and quick when you are on-the-go. From a simple Egg and Cheese to a Breakfast BLT or a Mill Sandwich (two eggs with choice of protein with home fries on a bulky roll), pair it with a side such as oatmeal, bacon, or a serving of hollandaise sauce (for dipping, of course!), and you’ve got yourself a very satisfying meal to tide you over until lunch.

Classic combo plates featuring eggs are available as well. Whether you just want some eggs and toast, or the addition of bacon, ham, sausage, corned beef hash or kielbasa, Bobola’s has you covered. Specialty omelets are as big as the plate, and are made with four farm-fresh eggs and served with your choice of home fries, baked beans, or sliced tomatoes, as well as toast. You can also substitute toast for a grilled or toasted bagel for just one dollar more. Create your own or choose from any one of their fourteen delicious creations; whether it’s a veggie omelet you’d prefer, or a meat lover’s, Greek, Chef Special (featuring all of the meats!) or Western, rest assured that it’ll be a great choice.

If a Benedict is more your style, Bobola’s has an impressive variety of them. Traditional, Irish, Country, Kielbasa, Bacon, Florentine or a Benny Omelet are all served with home fries, beans or sliced tomatoes. Not to be overlooked, an assortment of breads are available. Toast options include white, wheat, rye, raisin, English muffin or sourdough. Previously mentioned buttermilk biscuits and bagels, as well as coffee rolls (best enjoyed grilled!) can add that much more joy to the first meal of your day.

Lunch and dinner on this menu further accentuate the amount of talent that comes from Bobola’s. Classic appetizers like onion rings, chicken fingers, stuffed mushrooms and loaded nachos, as well as a soup and chowder of the day and French Onion Soup, all get you off to a great start. Deli and hot sandwiches are perfect for lunch, featuring the likes of a BLT, chicken salad, chicken parmesan, meatballs or Italian sausage with peppers and onions, Bobola’s will make your lunch break or lunch date a success. Burgers are always dependable, and here you can choose from a classic cheeseburger, mushroom with Swiss, bacon with cheddar, BBQ bacon, or the “Boom Boom” Bacon Burger, which is topped with cheddar jack cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and their signature “Boom Boom” sauce.

Traditional favorites like a Yankee Pot Roast, Meatloaf, Shepherd’s Pie, and Country Fried Chicken are just some of the items that introduce the dinner-inspired dishes here. Marinated Sirloin Tips, served with sauteed peppers and onions, or a Hamburger Plate, bun-free and topped with homemade beef gravy, will satisfy any meat lover. Dishes like Chicken or Haddock Cacciatore, Shrimp Scampi, American Chop Suey, and Meatballs are just some of the pasta options available.

Not to pass up the opportunity to serve up some of New England’s favorites, Bobola’s ends their menu on the best of notes: it’s seafood galore. Choose from Fried or Baked Haddock, Jumbo Shrimp, Fried Whole Clams, a Fisherman’s Platter, Baked Seafood Casserole, and so much more.

For the past 15 years, Bobola’s has been hitting the spot. Honoring their dad’s work ethic and dedication to quality, quantity, and realistic pricing, this family also continues to hit their mark.
