NASHUA – From 4-8 p.m. Sunday, March 19, Front Door Agency will host its 29th annual Gourmet Festival & Auction at the Nashua Country Club, 25 Fairway St.

The theme of the evening will be “There’s No Place Like Home,” to tie in with the Nashua nonprofit’s mission to help families facing homelessness in our region.

Celebrating their 30th year this month, Front Door Agency’s mission is to support and provide services to assist individuals and families transition from crisis to self-sufficiency through its core programs of prevention and intervention of homelessness; permanent affordable housing; its transitional housing program; crisis advocacy and resource education; and financial literacy.

The Front Door’s Gourmet Festival & Auction features delicious cuisine and fine spirits from more than 20 of the area’s best chefs, bakers and beverage vendors, as well as lively silent and live auctions. Proceeds from the event help young mothers and their children facing homelessness realize long-term solutions. In addition, many families at risk of homelessness turn to the Agency for housing assistance with basic necessities like transportation, rent and utilities. For the Front Door Agency’s clients, there truly is “no place like home.”

“The support we get year after year from the community is amazing,” said Lucie Bryer, media relations manager for Front Door Agency. “We have people like Michael Buckley, who have been involved since our very first event, and new businesses helping and (donating their time and wares) every year.”

The auction portion of the evening features trips, tickets to sporting events and concerts, spa getaways and gift certificates from many area businesses. Included this year is a spectacular 7-day trip to Ireland. “My husband and I went last year,” Bryer said. “It was wonderful, flawless; I highly recommend it!”

There are four tickets to see Kenny Chesney in concert, four tickets to Justin Bieber’s summer concert at Gillette Stadium, gourmet chef-prepared dinners, a luxurious weekend getaway to the Mt. Washington Hotel, and many other “must-have” items.

New this year at the auction is a day of pheasant hunting at a local private game reserve near Temple Mountain, Bryer said. “It’s a guided tour with bird dogs and all-inclusive – no hunting license required, guns and ammo included,” she said. “It’s really unique. A lot of people enjoy just watching the trained bird dogs do their thing.”

There’s also a private cooking class for two with LaBelle Winery chef Edward Ceccherini. For sports fans, four tickets to Patriots’ game, sitting at the 35-45 yardline visitor’s bench or a Brad Marchand Bruins jersey. Getaways include a resort stay at the Newport Wine and Food Festival and a house on Newfound Lake.

Perhaps most exciting will be the 100 golden bricks for purchase. For $40 a chance, attendees can buy a brick; inside one is a ticket to win a multifaceted diamond ring valued at a whopping $7,000. The second-place prize is diamond earrings; both first and second prizes were generously given by an anonymous donor. Every brick has at least a small prize.

Participating restaurants, bakeries and beverage vendors to date include 110 Grill, Bertucci’s, Big Kahunas Cafe and Grill, Burton’s Grill, Celebrations Catering, Cruzin Cakes Shop, Djinn Spirits, Fratello’s, Frederick’s Pastries, Labelle Winery, MT’s Dining Group, Nashua Country Club, Nashua Community College, Not Your Average Joe’s, Pine State Beverage, Riverside Barbeque, Southern New Hampshire Wine & Spirits of New England, Stella Blu, Sub Zero Ice Cream and You You Japanese Bistro.
