Extreme case of 'solar glare' may have triggered multi-car pileup on Northeastern Boulevard

NASHUA -- Officials are investigating witness reports that "intense solar glare" may have been a factor in back-to-back crashes that occurred on Northeastern Boulevard shortly after sunrise Saturday. The identities of the people involved in the crashes weren't immediately released by police, but at least four of them sustained significant injuries. The injuries to three of those people sustained injuries serious enough to prompt medical personnel to contact local hospitals and request trauma alerts. Firefighters, police and AMR ambulances were initially dispatched to a crash involving a car and a utility pole near the corner of Northeastern Boulevard and Murphy Drive.
