Hassan hears concerns from Rivier KinderCare
NASHUA - Under the veneer of children laughing, playing and going about their daily routines, there are two problems plaguing KinderCare at Rivier University: staffing and compensation. “Pay is a big problem,” said Director Jessica Nikonchuk as she showed U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) around the daycare on Oct. 5. Nikonchuk, a Rivier graduate, said the daycare is in very close proximity to Massachusetts -- and better paying jobs. “You could throw a rock at Massachusetts," she said. “All my staff could just leave and go over the border.” According to Indeed.com, the average yearly salary for New Hampshire KinderCare teachers tops out at $38,000. According to Reverie Residential, the median household income is $95,628, the average monthly rent is $1,834 and the average cost of a single-family home is $525,000.
