Expansion of Windham solar power stalled by loss of energy credits

WINDHAM - Given the ongoing success of the Nesmith Solar System, the Windham Local Energy Committee is looking to have solar arrays installed on the Police and Fire stations -- provided there is sufficient funding. During the committee’s Aug. 19 meeting with Congresswoman Maggie Goodlander (D-NH), member Patrick Manzo said that in 2022, 257 solar panels were installed atop the Nesmith Library. Since then, the array has saved the town $9,300. Renewable energy credits have also contributed a savings of $3,000. The array is expected to save Windham $193,000 during the next 25 years. “For us, it’s been a worthwhile venture,” said Manzo.
