$175K grant goes to project helping young children in need

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation is awarding a $175,000 grant to help fund a project dedicated to helping young children and families in need.
The grant is covering continued leadership and planning for Project LAUNCH in Manchester, or Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children’s Health. It was created when nonprofit agencies partnered with the state Department of Health and Human Services to apply for a federal grant to help the city’s most vulnerable children.
The project’s goal is for all children to enter school with the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills needed to succeed.
It’s improved home visitation, family strengthening and parent education programs, and fielding a team comprised of a police officer, community health worker, and a crisis services advocate to respond to children affected by violence or other trauma.
