Boston College upends UNH men’s hockey, 4-2

DURHAM – Junior forward Cy LeClerc of Brentwood and sophomore forward Ryan Conmy each score a goal for the Wildcats, but the No. 19 University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team fell to No. 1 Boston College, 4-2, on Friday night in front of a sold out crowd of 6,501 at the Whittemore Center at Key Auto Group Complex in a nationally-ranked Hockey East matchup.
The Wildcats fall to 11-11-3 (3-10-2 Hockey East), while the Eagles improve to 21-4-1 (13-3-1 Hockey East).
Gabe Perreault, Will Vote, Gentry Shamburger and Mike Posma all scored goals for the Eagles
Next up for the ‘Cats is a home game versus Merrimack tonight on ESPN+ at 7 p.m.
At 6:43 in the second period, the Eagles went on a five-on-three power-play, but the Wildcats kept the Eagles off the scoreboard.
The Wildcats struck first at 13:47 as Conmy sent a pass to LeClerc, who deked the goalie and scored on the glove side of the net from inside the crease.
The Eagles tied the game at 17:50 on a shorthanded goal by Perreault as he received a pass from Lukas Gustafsson from the defensive zone all the way to the attacking zone and scored on a breakaway.
Conmy put the Wildcats back ahead 2-1 at 2:04 in the third period as he fired a one-timer from the slot after senior forward Liam Devlin sent a pass from behind the net. BC tied the game up yet again at 2:25 when Vote scored a one-timer off a rebound.
The Eagles took the lead at 6:15 when the puck ricocheted off the wall behind the UNH net to Shamburger who then scored.
At 12:17, the Eagles extended their lead to 4-2 when Posma knocked in a rebound.
