One team has punched its ticket to the Futures Collegiate Baseball League Finals, and we’ll find out tonight who its opponent will be.

The top seed Norwich Navigators clobbered New Britain 12-2 to win the third and deciding game of their best-of-three semifinals at Dodd Stadium in Norwich.

Meanwhile, in the other semis series, the Worcester Bravehearts topped the Vermont Lake Monsters 7-5 and now a third and deciding game is set for tonight at 6:05 at Centennial Field in Burlington, Vt.

The league will likely look to start the best-of-three finals at Dodd Stadium on Sunday. Here’s at Friday night’s action:

NORWICH 12, NEW BRITAIN 2

The Sea Unicorns outhit the Bees by a whopping 15-3 and led throughout, scoring three in the first and breaking things open with three in the fifth and four in the sixth before a crowed of 1,735.

Former Knight Johnny Knox continued his torrid playoff, as he went 2 for 4 with a triple, homer and two RBIs. Matt Malcolm homered, doubled and drove in four runs. Sean Finn got the win with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief, striking out three.

WORCESTER 7, VERMONT 5

Although the Bravehearts were outhit at Worcester’s Fitton Field 8-5, they jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two innings and never looked back in front of a crowd of 1,827. Two of the Bravehearts hits were homers by Daniel Bucciero and Vincent Eramo. Jack Thorbahn also doubled in two runs.

Eric Becker went 2 for 3 with an RBI for second seed Vermont. Worceste reliever Jack Beauchesne picked up the win with two innings of scoreless, three-hit relief. Dylan Vigue got the save although he walked three and gave up a run in the ninth.
