Coffey Post gets two wins to move to 9-0 atop District B

By Tom King - Staff Writer | Jun 28, 2022

NASHUA — Monday’s rain didn’t deter the Nashua James E. Coffey Post #3 American Legion baseball team.

Neither did Dover or Portsmouth.

Nashua ended up getting not one but two wins last night at Holman Stadium, to solidify its hold atop District B at 9-0.

First the Coffey Kids blanked Dover, 4-0, behind the pitching of Isaac Zhang, who struck out 15 in a complete game two-hitter.

Then Nashua walked off in extra innings, beating Portsmouth 6-5 on Isaiah Hedquist’s game winning hit. He had two RBIs in the nightcap and also had two hits in the opener.

In the opener, Derek Finlay (triple, RBI) and Ryan Bourgeois (double, RBI) paced the offense, along with Jake O’Connor, Padge Mac Seain, and Colin Holbrook (RBI).

In the win over Portsmouth, Mac Seain tossed five innings, allowing six hits, no earned runs while striking out nine. Zak Lussier and Connor Hale pitched well in relief, with Hale getting the win striking out three over two innings.

OTHER LOCALS DOING WELL

Hudson evened its record at 4-4 in District B with a 2-0 win over Exeter. Meanwhile Merrimack Post 98 is 7-1 atop District A, paced by players like Sean and Troy Brennan, Nick Wilson, and Brandon Shaw.
