UNH men’s soccer season ends in NCAA loss to Oregon State

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Mouhameth St. Thiam scored the game winner for the Beavers as No. 16 seed University of New Hampshire men’s soccer team fell to No. 1 seed Oregon State, 1-0, in the Round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday night at Paul Lorenz Field in front of a sold-out crowd of 1,265.

Oregon State improves to 14-2-3 and advances to the Elite Eight for the first time in program history and will play at No. 8 seed Clemson.

The Wildcats conclude their historic season at 17-2-2. UNH’s 17 wins is a school record.

Oregon State took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute (9:06) when St. Thiam scored on a breakaway off a long pass by Tsiki Ntsabeleng.

In the 30th minute, junior goalkeeper Jassem Koleilat (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) made a big save on a shot by St. Thiam that was going to the left corner of the net to keep the score at 1-0.
