LEICESTER, Mass. – Becker College Hawks sophomore women’s hockey goaltender Amber Lee of Nashua is reaping the rewards of her fine play in this early but abbreviated season.

Lee made 25 saves last Friday night at New England College on her team’s way to a 1-0 win. Lee’s shutout, her first of the season, has resulted in her being named the Becker Athlete of the Week, for the week ending on Feb. 28.

Lee made her fourth start of the season on Friday night and needed to be perfect in preserving the Hawks 1-0 victory.

Hawks sophomore Shelby Reaugh (Raleigh, N.C.) provided the game-winning goal early in the third period for Becker while Lee made her best save of the night on a potential game-tying breakaway with 7:51 remaining in the third period.

The win improved Lee’s record to 2-2-0 this season and dropped her GAA dramatically down to a 2.75.

The 25-save game also moves Lee into a tie for second for most shutouts in a career in program history. Lee has three shutouts in 17 career appearances for the Hawks.

Lee, who played junior hockey with the Northern Cyclones, is following up a successful freshman season at Becker.

Lee played and started in 13 games as a rookie for the Hawks. She played 786:26 minutes while recording 411 saves, finishing the season with a 2.52 GAA and .926 save percentage. Her success in her freshman season led to her receiving two accolades; a CHC Rookie of the Week and CHC Goaltender of the Week nod.

The Hawks would go on to sweep NEC in a home-and-home series with a 3-2 win over the Pilgrims last Saturday night.

Becker returns to action with a weekend home-and-home with Connecticut College this Saturday and Sunday, and Lee will almost certainly see action.

The Hawks travel to Conn. College on Saturday for a 7 p.m. puck drop, followed by hosting the Camels on Sunday at 3:40 p.m. at Worcester Ice Center.
